Katie is a sports enthusiast passionate about people & storytelling.
She grew up in the small town of Delano, Minnesota as an only girl in the middle of 6 hockey boys. Her childhood consisted of running around cold hockey rinks and spending family weekends in hotels and arena locker rooms for tournaments. Katie played hockey herself, but in 4th grade after 3 years of speed skating and several hockey clinics and camps, she made the decision to do something that would separate her from her six brothers and play basketball, a sport that the boys couldn’t critique her at.
She was a competitive 3 sport athlete from that time on, playing volleyball, softball and basketball in high school with a couple of years of lacrosse and soccer as well. After graduation, Katie had planned to play softball, but a last minute switch in plans led her to the Women’s Basketball team at the University of Hawai’i at Hilo.
It was clearly an enjoyable time for a Minnesota girl to live in paradise and attend school. While she loved competing, the tuition became too much to bear. She eventually made the difficult decision to head back home to MN, hang up the jerseys, skates, cleats & catchers mitt for good and commit to a career in Sports Broadcasting.
She transferred to St. Cloud State University and began to discover her passion for storytelling. When she was given the opportunity to work for the Husky Hockey Men’s and Women’s teams, she didn’t hesitate to get involved. Katie worked as the Rink Side Reporter & In-Studio Host for St. Cloud State Hockey alongside an award-winning student crew, Husky Productions. The live games aired on Fox Sports North in the Greater Minneapolis-St.Paul area with Katie between the glass for every intermission interview, and also in the studio for intermission reports covering highlights and stats.
Katie loves people. You’ll usually always find her singing or holding a coffee–it’s usually both at the same time. She enjoys multi-tasking and staying busy, which in her words might have something to do with growing up in an always-busy family of 9.
Katie graduated from college in August of 2018. After graduation, she spent a year covering Minnesota’s professional and collegiate sports teams with FOX Sports North.
In September of 2019, Katie accepted a position as the Philadelphia Flyers Live Pre & Post-Game Host on NBC Sports Philadelphia.
A midwest girl turned Philly girl, Katie enjoys discovering new coffee shops and the best breakfast places Philly has to offer.
